A Lighting Technician, or lighting designer, is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of lighting equipment for various productions, including theater, film, television, and live events. Their primary duties include:

• Collaborating with directors and production teams to understand the lighting requirements of a project.
• Selecting and configuring lighting instruments to achieve the desired effects and atmosphere.
• Setting up, adjusting, and operating lighting equipment during rehearsals and performances.
• Ensuring safe installation and operation of lighting systems, adhering to all safety protocols.
• Running lighting cues during a production, making real-time adjustments as needed.
• Maintaining and repairing lighting equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Keeping track of inventory and managing the budget for lighting supplies.

In addition to technical skills, successful Lighting Technicians must have a strong artistic sense and the ability to work well under pressure.
